Minions refurb

So the refurbishment at the Houseman's Engine House is well underway and it's been pretty noisy here!

Even though the office has been noisy, we haven't been quiet. We've been plannning a number of events and next week we'll reveal more. If you are still interested in becoming a walk facilitator or attending our ELS workshop, there is still time so please get in touch, abillinge@cornwall.gov.uk

Are you a farmer or small holder?

Would you like to earn upward of £30 per hectare a year?

CHAHP is running its first farmer & landowner workshop on Environmental Stewardship on Saturday 19 March near Upton Cross.

The day will run from 10:30am to 3pm and will include a farm walk and workshop delivered by an expert farm advisor. You will be able to find out about Entry and Upland Level Stewardship and how it might benefit you. The day is free and there will be a pasty lunch, however all attendees will need an agricultural holding number.

If you are interested or know someone that might be please get in touch. Places are limited and can be booked by emailing Abi abillinge@cornwall.gov.uk or calling Jane on 01579 362350.

We need you...

Walking Around Your Patch - Facilitator Training

We are running some training for those who would like to be involved with facilitating walks around their locality – this is not about what to say and how to say it, but more about the health and organisational side of things.

Once trained you will be covered by Natural England’s public liability insurance and will also get a nationally recognisable award – as someone who has recently participated in the training, I can honestly say, it is both fun and informative.

Please let me know if you are interested in attending this before Wednesday 16 February. Also, if anyone is interested in participating in a course about the other side of organising a guided walk - being the guide and talking the talk as well as walking the walk, please let me know!

Walking for Health Volunteer Walk Leader Training day.
Venue – Education room at Cotehele
Wednesday 23rd February 2011

The Minions Heritage Centre Exhibition is to have a face-lift

As you may know the Minions Heritage Centre Exhibition located in Houseman’s Engine House is in need of some refurbishment. On Monday 14 February it will close for approximately a month so that the WHS Project – Discover the Extraordinary can undertake a complete refit of the internal exhibition space.

When the exhibition reopens in mid-March visitors can expect a new and exciting experience with fascinating information on the past 6000+ years of local history. We will keep you up to date on how this work is progressing and nearer the time we’ll be able to confirm the date of the re-opening.
